The Terraform series explores the forces that shape and transform the Earth’s crust. Layers of acrylic mediums were subjected to flowing water, allowing natural erosion to carve channels, reveal underlying surfaces and create formations beyond complete control. Heat was then used to fracture and crack the surface, echoing the immense pressures and geological upheavals occurring beneath the Earth.
Each painting became a miniature landscape in formation, a record of matter being eroded, broken and rebuilt. Rather than depicting the Earth, Terraform recreates something of its ancient creative process, allowing water, heat and gravity to become active collaborators in the work.
